17:00                     The opening by Brumilda van Rensburg, patron of Foxwood Theatre

                             An open invitation to all Foxwood patrons past and present to attend the opening of the Festival by the                                  patron of the Foxwood Theatre, Brumilda van Rensburg.

                             Enjoy a glass of Foxwood Vineyards Chenin Blanc or Shiraz with us – and meet the winemaker Matthew                                    Krone.

No entry fee.  

 

17:30                     Hound Dog Matt Stern’s tribute to Elvis

                             This is no Elvis impersonation show but a genuine and really great tribute to The King. Created especially                                  for Matt by writer and producer, Deon Opperman, it's a show not to be missed if you're an Elvis fan or if                                  you simply appreciate wonderful entertainment.

Wednesday 24 September Heritage Day

 

10:30               Tribute to John Kani in the Foxwood Garden of Fame.

                       As a South African who has made an outstanding contribution to the arts and our society, we honour Dr Kani,                          embedding his handprints in a stepping-stone in the Garden of Fame. Special tribute by singer and actress    

                       Abigail Kubeka.

Entrance fee: None

20:00       Doep is nie dood nie: Jannie du Toit, singer, lyricist and musician in a superb tribute to legendary musical icon                          Koos du Plessis. Accompanied by Susan Mouton, cello, and Conraad Rall, piano.

Tickets: R120 / person.

 

Doep is nie dood nie – a one-man show about the life and work of Jannie du Toit’s friend and mentor – has been received with great critical acclaim by the Press.

10:00               Naturapath Magda Beukes-Embrey talks about energies and healing, and demonstrates its use through                                    controversial technology such as the Scio-machine.

10:30               Induction of songstress  Carike Keuzenkamp in the Foxwood Garden of Fame. Embedding her handprints in a                          stepping-stone to form part of a garden gallery of celebrities, she will be honoured by Boet Pretorius and                              Lance James. 

 

Join us as guests of Foxwood House with a glass of our latest show-stopper: a glass of Foxwood Vineyards wine made by wine-making Matthew Krone.A toast to Carike Keuzenkamp.

 

 

11:30 to 14:00       Lunch prepared on the patio: by writer, actor and celebrity chef Lochner de Kock, who prepares 2 dishes                                 on the patio (weather permitting!) as perfect accompaniment to the Foxwood Vineyards Chenin Blanch                                     and Shiraz.

 

The menu:

Lochner’s Chenin Blanc dish:

                                 Roquettte leaves with chicken, beetroot, chilli, nuts, lime and coriander in a rice paper wrap. Serve with                                    sweet chilli sauce.Served with a glass of Chenin Blanc.

Lochner’s Shiraz dish:  Pork belly with cous-cous, roasted vegetables and dukatti. Served with a glass of Shiraz.

14:00               Journalist Renée Conradie talks about the humour, pathos and pain of being a dipliomat’s wife. A highly                                  humorous retrospective – but possibly not quite as comical  in real life as it may be in the telling of it.

No entry fee.   In Afrikaans.

 

15:00             A public debate about the arts and the media.The facilitator is academic and journalist Hannelie Booyens. A                              must for all South Africans who care about the arts in public media. Afrikaans / English

18:00              Richard van der Westhuizen – musician, lyricist, actor and singer - & Andrew Roos: singing lyrics of nostalgia                             and love, accompanying  themselves on piano, guitar en madeline.

11:00                   A tribute to  iconic South African actor Tobie Cronjé in the Foxwood Garden of Fame. Violinist Zanta                                        Hofmeyr takes part in the function when his handprints are embedded in a stepping-stone to be placed                                  among those for many of his celebrated colleagues.

Superb renditions of world famous French songs - delivered with all the passion                                (Brel) and emotional restraint (Hardy) required of  (in their own right) two highly talented South African artists.
